If you would have told the kid standing on the corner in Springfield forty years ago that he’d be sitting here today writing a blog post as a free man, I’m not sure he would’ve believed you. Back then, the “Life” was everything—the power, the money, the respect. But as I’ve shared in my book, South End Syndicate, that world always comes with a bill you can’t afford to pay.
Lately, I’ve been traveling around, talking to people at places like The Mob Museum and on various podcasts. It’s been an eye-opening experience to see how many people are fascinated by the history of the Genovese family and the Springfield crew. For me, sharing these stories isn’t about glorifying the past; it’s about pulling back the curtain so people see the reality of the cost—to the families, to the community, and to your own soul.
These days, my “crew” looks a lot different. Whether I’m working in real estate or focused on Pazzo Wine, the goal is the same: building something real that doesn’t require looking over my shoulder. It’s about redemption and showing that no matter how deep you were in, you can always choose a different path.
Thanks to everyone who has picked up a copy of the book or reached out on social media. I’m looking forward to what’s next—legitimately this time.
Stay tuned, Anthony “Bingy” Arillotta
